It is vacation time for children and whether we like it or not, the onus of making this vacation time a fun one is totally on parents. If you're worried about how to keep your kids entertained during these times, we're here to help you. Being one of the best preschools in Bangalore, we know that it can be a daunting task to keep kids entertained and out of trouble always. Here are 5 simple vacation activities at home for children that you can try to keep your children entertained and active. Read on!

1 - Painting activity

This one's amongst the most favourite vacation activities for young children, including preschoolers and middle school students. Depending on your child's age, you can choose the difficulty levels of a painting activity. YouTube is a great place to find inspiration for different painting ideas suiting children of different age groups. Explore there or get creative by assigning simple painting activity to your child. One quick tip to make such painting activities all the more interesting is to conduct these fun painting sessions in groups. Ask your child to call over a friend or two and let the group indulge in a fun painting activity. Be careful to spread some newspapers on the floor to avoid extra cleaning efforts, that follows after.

2 - Board games activity

Different board games interest different age groups, from simple games like snakes and ladders, ludo, business to more complicated ones like crossword and chess. Depending on your child's age group, pick a suitable board game and let them roll the dice! This is absolutely fun activity which keeps children active and also helps improve their skills. Steal a few hours from your work and play along with them to double the fun!

3 - The Leaf Hunt

If you're looking for an outdoor-sy vacation activity for young children, you cannot go wrong with the leaf hunt. It's a fun game that involves your children in knowing their plants and surroundings better. What you need to do is collect tens of leaves from different plants in your garden or your community garden and accumulate them in a jar. Hand over these jars to your children and let them match these leaves to their corresponding plants. It is best suited for children aged below 8 to 10 years.

4 - The Wall Chalk Murals

If you're parenting preschoolers, you probably already know that these kids are absolutely amused by the idea of drawing on walls. Provide them the best cardboard, books and canvas, and they'll still throw them all away and head over to walls. We don't want our living room walls to turn into an adventurous graffiti wall! So, best fix is to let your child use one of your outdoor walls as a canva to express their art! Hand them over a couple of coloured chalk pieces for this activity. They'll love you for this and cleaning the walls off chalk marks won't be a task.

5 - Family Tree

Help your children in drawing out a beautiful family tree that has brief details about everyone in the family. This is a great activity for all of you together and ensure that you have good conversations with them about your family's history. There can be no better way to know the family than this simple yet fun activity.
